      vBulletin 2.3.3 is a minor bug fix release. The majority of the bugs are fairly trivial. Some of the bug fixes include:

      • Doubles in buddy list not prevented. Details
      • Show all posts in print thread view doesn't work. (implementation changed) Details
      • Mass email in control panel fields are case sensitive. Details
      • PM to buddies doesn't work when only sending to one buddy. Details
      A full list can be found here.

      Backing up forums

      Please be sure to check your backups, that they are complete before continuing with an upgrade. We had reports that PHP was causing time out errors when creating the back up SQL, and this was causing for incomplete or corrupted backups. The safest way to do a backup is to use the mysqldump utility through telnet, as it will not suffer from any such problems.

      Installation / Upgrade Instructions
      These are available in the Members Area.

      Template Changes (from 2.3.2)

      • error_mergebadurl - Added that your link shouldn't have "goto=next" in it.
      • printthread - Changed the "show all posts" link as this is no longer the purpose of that link.
      • threads_splitthread - Added a maxlength/size attribute to the new thread title input box
      File Changes (from 2.3.2)

      • Main Directory: forumdisplay.php, global.php, index.php, member2.php, moderator.php, postings.php, private2.php
      • Admin Directory: email.php, functions.php, bbimport.php
      • Mod Directory: none
      • And the usuals (all for just the version number): admin/global.php, admin/install.php, admin/upgrade1.php

      Bonjour,

      Voici les nouvelles de Jelsoft :
      http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showt...threadid=86416

      Et ici une traduction :
      vBulletin 3 gamma

      Source : http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=83524

      In order to fix several bugs found in previous releases, and to prepare the ground for the first Release Candidate, we have decided to release a seventh beta version for vBulletin 3.

      Images Folder Reorganization

      One of the primary things new in Beta 7 is the reorganization of the images folder.

      In previous versions of vBulletin, a single variable controlled the location of the directory containing all images used in vBulletin templates. In vB2, this was {imagesfolder} and in vB3 Betas 1-6, this was $stylevar['imagesfolder'].

      This system, while functional, did not lend itself well to boards using multiple similar styles. For example, if the only difference between StyleOne and StyleTwo on BoardX is that they have different colored buttons, you would have to create a complete duplicate of the 'images' folder, one version containing the buttons for StyleOne and the other containing the buttons for StyleTwo. This would mean that you would also need to duplicate all the other images, such as the folder icons, the attachment type icons, the poll counter bars etc.

      In order to prevent this necessity, we have reorganized the images folder into logical directories and assigned each image type its own $stylevar. For example, all button images are now held in images/buttons and are referenced with $stylevar['imgdir_button'], while all attachment icons are stored in images/attach and are referenced with $stylevar['imgdir_attach'].

      This means that you can now share groups of images between styles, without having to make and duplication or symbolic links on your server.

      A complete description of the reorganization is available later in this thread.

      New CSS Class for WYSIWYG Text Area

      .wysiwyg (WYSIWYG Editor)
      This new class is used to control the WYSIWYG text area. As some board owners like to have the WYSIWYG area appear like any other textarea, and others like it to appear like the first alternating color, this class allows you to choose between them - or to define something totally new if you want to do so.
      [more details]

      PM Popup Changes

      Some changes in Beta 7 have necessitated a change in the way that we handle the New Private Message popup. To cut a long story short, pmpopup is now handled by the pm_popup_script template, which is appended to the footer when a PM popup is to be shown. Therefore, you can remove the confirm_newpm() function from your headinclude, although leaving it in place will not break anything.
      [more details]

      BBCode Changes

      With Beta 7, we have decided to hard-code the [quote] and [email] bbcode definitions (including the [quote=username] and [email=emailaddress] bbcodes). However, this does not mean that your customized [quote] bbcode will be lost. If you have customized your [quote] and [quote=username] bbcodes, you should go to the bbcode manager and copy the 'Replacement' HTML into a text file for safe keeping before you upload the new Beta 7 files to your server. After the upgrade is complete, you can edit the new bbcode_quote to appear in the same way as your old bbcode replacements did. Note that the bbcode_quote template uses a conditional to show either the [quote] or the [quote=username] HTML.
      [more details]

      Renamed Templates

      A few templates have been renamed for Beta 7 in order to make a more organized template manager. The following templates have been renamed:
      • postbit_bbcode_code => bbcode_code
      • postbit_bbcode_html => bbcode_html
      • postbit_bbcode_php => bbcode_php
      • bbcode => help_bbcodes
      • bbcodebit => help_bbcodes_bbcode
      • SMILIELIST => help_smilies
      • smilielistbit => help_smilies_smilie
      • smilielist_category => help_smilies_category
      • avatarlist => help_avatars
      • avatarlist_avatar => help_avatars_avatar
      • avatarlist_category => help_avatars_category
      • avatarlist_row => help_avatars_row
      Version-Based Template Comparison

      The "Find Updated Template" option in the admin control panel now does its comparison based on the version of the master template and your custom template. If your custom template was edited in an earlier version, it will appear on this list. This is similar to the existing function of this feature, but it should now work in all cases (there were several cases where the old implementation wouldn't show a template as needing to be updated).

      Note this will not show you what needs to be updated; only that the template has changed.

      Right-to-Left Language Support

      With Beta 7, we have finally implemented proper support for right-to-left languages. In order to maintain this support, you should bear the following in mind:

      In a right-to-left layout, all 'align="left"' attributes need to be reversed to say 'align="right"' and vice versa. This is achieved by not putting the words 'left' and 'right' into the templates, but rather you should use $stylevar['left'] and $stylevar['right']. These variables will automatically be replaced with 'left' or 'right' depending on the language direction.

      Therefore, the following template changes have taken place:
      • align="left" => align="$stylevar[left]"
      • text-alignment: left => text-alignment: $stylevar[left]
      • float: left => float: $stylevar[left]
      • border-left: 2px => border-$stylevar[left]: 2px
      • padding-left: 2px => padding-$stylevar[left]: 2px
      • margin-left: 2px => margin-$stylevar[left]: 2px
      (The following is also true for align="right" => align="$stylevar[right]" etc.)

      [more details]

      Content Type Stylevar Becomes Language Setting

      In previous versions of vBulletin, one of the stylevars contained the content type for a tag. This is no longer the case. The content type is now hard-coded as text/html and the character set (charset) is now defined as part of the language settings. The default charset is ISO-8859-1.

      To make this work on your forums, you should edit your headinclude template if you have customized it, find this text:
      Code:
      and replace it with this:
      Code:
      [more details]

      Popup Smilie Window in WYSIWYG Mode

      ... now works.

      Forum Manager under IE with Win95 / Win98 / WinME

      We have had reports of the forum manager eating system resources under Internet Explorer on Win9x, so a new admin setting allows you to change the behavior of the forum manager to use an expand/collapse system rather like the style manager, in order to prevent those operating systems from falling over. This setting is disabled by default, but can be enabled via the 'Admin Control Panel Options' section of the main vBulletin Options page.

      Après plusieurs mois de traduction, de discussions acharnées sur les choix à opérer et de relectures attentives, nous sommes heureux de vous présenter la première traduction française du fichier linguistique vB 3.
      Il nous reste encore beaucoup à faire pour atteindre un niveau digne d'une installation sur un forum en production. Cependant, nous ne voulions pas vous priver plus longtemps du plaisir d'utiliser vbulletin en français, d'autant plus que le paramétrage du logiciel est parfois difficile.

      Par ailleurs, nous avons apporté des améliorations à la traduction du style et nous avons souhaité mettre en ligne la nouvelle version en même temps.

      La prochaine étape consite à vous fournir un "pack" traduction française, comprenant le style et la langue.

      Merci à l'équipe et plus particulièrement à Lumina pour les efforts des derniers jours.

      J'ai décidé de quitter vB France, ceci pour des raisons simples :

      > Je suis épuisé de voir ces chamailleries à gogo, épuisé de voir des "jeunes" qui se prennent pour les rois du monde, épuisé de voir le niveau de bêtise qu'ils peuvent avoir, épuisé d'entendre des choses méchantes sur moi.
      > J'ai aussi beaucoup de travail maintenant, et je souhaite m'y donner totalement.
      > J'ai aussi envie de voir la communauté française évoluer, se scinder, s'associer pour pouvoir créer une entité responsable et apte à s'officialiser. Ceci ne se fera qu'avec mon départ en tant que Administrateur afin que "vb-fr.com" n'ai plus mon étiquette.

      Je laisse donc la place à une nouvelle "direction" qui est :
      • Sophocle
      • Lumina
      • Blackos

      Ces trois personnes en tant qu'Administrateurs. Trois qualités différentes qui, j'espère, se compléteront avec rigueur et professionnalisme...
      Cette équipe prend fonction dès aujourd'hui. Je me passe pour ma part en "Membre" et ne viendrais plus qu'ici pour aider et non plus diriger.

      Sophocle devient le propriétaire de la DB, il la gérera comme il le souhaitera. Je lui laisse vous expliquer comment sera organisé l'équipe.
      Les noms de domaine restent à ma proprieté jusqu'a extinction pour être repris par Sophocle ensuite.

      PS : Décision irrévocable.

      J'espère que les autres forums verront cet acte comme celui de l'union...

      Bonne suite à tous.

      Corbu m'a chargé de vous indiquer que nous allions changer d'hébergeur dans quelques jours, en raison des difficultés que nous avons rencontrées à l'installation de vbulletin depuis la version 3 beta 5. Ce changement nous permettra d'envisager un passage plus aisé et rapide à la beta 6, déjà testée et opérationnelle chez notre nouvel hébergeur.

      Ce déplacement entraînera la fermeture temporaire des sites www.vb-fr.com et www.vbulletingraphics.org pendant une durée pouvant aller jusqu'à 24 h environ, le temps nécessaire à la propagation des nouveaux DNS à tout le réseau. Nous avons déjà transféré les fichiers, il ne nous reste plus qu'à dupliquer la base et à l'installer. Les opérations débuteront mardi soir si tout va bien et s'achèveront donc en principe mercredi soir.

      Merci par avance pour votre compréhension.

      vBulletin 3 beta 6 est sortit ce Lundi 8 Septembre.
      La Traduction sera diffusée cette semaine probablement.

      WYSIWYG II

      The most major change in this version is the new version of our WYSIWYG editor. The new version is faster and more efficient, and has the major benefit over the old version of being compatible with recent versions of the Mozilla browser. To use the WYSIWYG editor you should be running either Internet Explorer 5.5 or 6.0, Mozilla 1.3 (or newer) or Mozilla Firebird 0.6.1 (or newer).

      In addition, the non-WYSIWYG editor now shares many of its interface components with the WYSIWYG editor for visual consistency. The style of the controls can now be controlled via a section of the admin control panel style editor, so that the controls can be styled according to the style of your own forums if you so desire.

      To accomodate these changes, quite a few files have been moved around or renamed. Before uploading the new version, I would suggest that you look for the original filenames and delete those files, then you will not end up with duplicate and redundant files. The list of renamed and deleted files is at the bottom of this post.

      Scheduled Tasks & Temporary Bans

      Following customer feedback, the interface for the scheduled task (vBcron) manager has been re-written, and a new control has been added to allow you to execute any scheduled task instantly with the click of a button.

      The scheduled task that lifts the ban on temporarily banned users has now been re-scheduled to run once every hour instead of once every day, so 24 hour bans will now never last longer than 25 hours or less than 23 hours.

      Orphan Phrases

      Due to the way that the vB3 phrase system works, you may find that after running an upgrade some of the phrases that you translated for an earlier version of vB3 no longer exist, leaving your translated phrases orphaned in the database. A new tool in the phrase manager will detect and fix these orphan phrases. To use it, simply open the phrase manager and click on the 'Find Orphan Phrases' button at the bottom of the form. The system will then guide you through the necessary steps.

      We recomment that you check for orphan phrases each time you complete an upgrade script.

      Paid Subscriptions

      Improvements to the paid subscriptions system for Beta 6 include the ability to work in several currencies.

      At present, the only supported payment processor is PayPal, but support for NoChex and WorldPay will follow, pending their replies to queries we have submitted.

      Long Filenames

      It has come to our attention that Macintosh users were having difficulties with some of the vBulletin files due to the length of their filenames. We have now renamed all affected files to that they are 31 characters long or shorter.

      Usergroup Leaders

      Usergroup leaders are now able to view who is in their usergroup as well as remove users in their group.

      Attachment Manager

      Users may now remove attachments directly from their attachment manager (misc.php?do=attachments). This is helpful when you have attachment quotas enabled and users find themselves at the limit. The user has the option of viewing thumbnails of the attachments if you have them enabled.

      Pre-Release Testing

      As some of you may know, a number of customers' boards have been running a 'Beta 6 Preview' version since this morning, in order to help the developers iron out any silly mistakes and bugs that were not originally detected. Hopefully this process will reduce the number of bugs found in Beta 6, to the benefit of everyone.

      Thanks to the inhabitants of the #vborg IRC room for their help with this.

      Bug Fixes

      There were over 100 bug fixes for this release, here are a few examples:

      Scheduled Tasks may execute more than once. [view]

      Bonjour,

      Nous souhaitions sortir vB3 Beta 6 aujourd'hui (vendredi), mais quelques problèmes ont été soulevés qui nous ont obligés à retarder la sortie jusqu'à lundi (8 septembre 2003).

      Pour tous ceux qui attendaient une sortie aujourd'hui, nous sommes désolés pour le retard, mais nous souhaitons vous fournir un produit avec le moins de bugs possible.

      Du coté de la traduction française, nous consacrerons la semaine prochaine à la conversion et relecture pour le passage de Beta 5 à Beta 6. Nous sortirons le fichier de langue en même temps que le fichier de style. Je ne peux toutefois donner aucune date précise ne connaissant pas la somme des changements effectués par Jelsoft.

      Cette Beta 6 sera relativement longue, puisque Jelsoft prévoit de la faire durer plus longtemps que la phase Beta 5 qui a duré un mois complet. Attendez-vous donc à quelque chose comme six semaines de bêta supplémentaires, puis une phase Release Candidate beaucoup plus courte et enfin la sortie finale.

      Un jour après la sortie de vbulletin 2.3.1, Jelsoft sort une nouvelle version pour supprimer un conflit lié aux pièces jointes. Voici la copie de l'annonce officielle, disponible ici :
      http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=79636

      After a CVS conflict rendered the attachment.php file included with vBulletin 2.3.1 unusable, we have decided to release a replacement version, numbered 2.3.2. This version resolves the error resulting from the CVS conflict, and also addresses a few other bugs that slipped through the net for 2.3.1.

      We recommend that all sites running vBulletin 2 upgrade to 2.3.2 as soon as possible.

      Upgrading from vBulletin 2.3.1

      We are aware that this release comes hot on the heels of yesterday's 2.3.1 release, so we will try to make the upgrade process as painless as possible for you. After you download the vBulletin 2.3.2 zip file from the members' area, you need only upload the files listed as changed below. The files have had very minor edits, with the exception of vbulletin.style, so a quick look at the differences between the two files should reveal the changes.

      If you have hacked some of the PHP files on your board, you will find instructions detailing the changes to the files wherever possible in the next message of this thread.

      Whatever you choose to do, you should run admin/upgrade25.php to update your version number and get the latest version of the default style.

      Backing up forums

      Please be sure to check your backups, that they are complete before continuing with an upgrade. We had reports that PHP was causing time out errors when creating the back up SQL, and this was causing for incomplete or corrupted backups. The safest way to do a backup is to use the mysqldump utility through telnet/SSH, as it will not suffer from any such problems.

      vBulletin 2.3.1 is mainly a maintence release, although a minor XSS security issue was fixed. We recommend that all sites running vBulletin versions older than 2.3.1 upgrade as soon as possible. No versions of vBulletin 3 Beta are affected by this security problem.

      Files and Templates Changed

      For this release, almost every file and template has been changed, as we have altered all URL strings to use & instead of & for HTML standards compliance. These changes do not affect functionality, so you need not revert your templates except for those noted below in the 'Template Changes' section. These templates have had bugs fixed or new functionality added. The same is true for changed files. While almost all files have changed, only those listed below contain changes related to bugs or functionality. Other changed files relate only to the & to & changes.
